January–The Perfect Month to Plan Your Vintage Pursuits

Published by swatiker at 9:34 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Welcome to the deepest month of the winter–January.  I have to admit, I don’t relish shopping and browsing through my favorite shops quite as much this time of year.  I often have to postpone transporting the pieces I purchase–whether it’s furniture or clothes–just to make sure I don’t drop or drag anything through the snow, slush and grime.

But January is a great time to do research on your favorite eras, items and styles.  For me, there’s nothing better than curling up with a fun, visual, informative book on the objects of my desire.  I look into new shops, investigate the history and characteristics of the pieces I want to collect, wear or put on display in my home.

I take the time to get to know everything I can about what I am about to buy before venturing into stores, estate sales and flea markets.  Don’t get me wrong–there’s nothing better than finding and acquiring something I have been drooling over.  But I feel so much better knowing that I have taken the time, done the due diligence, and made the best possible choice for me.

It’s also a great time to explore what’s out there on internet, too.  More time for the EBay and other sites I normally don’t have the time to surf.

So don’t be blue.  If you love vintage and collectibles, and you want to find new ideas and methods for locating these treasures, now is the time to get into all of the topics you are interested in and really learn.  It will make you a much more successful shopper and collector when the ice and cold weather finally break.
